in the mouths of bay area wine growers. "today in the bay's" bob redell is live in livermore with more details on a new climate report that paints a pretty bleak future for our local vineyard. >> over the next 40 years, wine-growing regions like here and livermore, napa, sonoma, could see a dramatic decrease in the number of vineyards a potential drop of 50% to 70% statewide. the cause for this decline, global warming. the scientists believe that as the temperatures rise, there will be less rain and water to irrigate and cool that's grapes in these already hot regions. grapes like the hot days and cool nights. too much heat. the grapes fail to produce that quality and flavor that makes a good wine. the scientists predict wine producers would move north, like montana, washington state and idaho. those areas are seeing as potential for grape growing doubled. the destruction of wildlife is the down side, animals like the grizzly and gray wolf. they protect in australia and southern europe, with regions moving to northern europe and new zealand. this is considered groundbreaking. the first time sc

here in livermore and napa/sonoma, could see a dramatic dree kres in their number of vineyards so say climate researchers in a new study but out by the national academy of sciences. the cause would be global warming. as the temperatures rise, they believe there will be less rain and water to irrigate and cool these grapes. grapes like the hot days. the sugar levels are off and they are able to cool off during the night. too much heat and they fail to produce the quality of flavor that makes good wine. they predict they would move north to higher elevations. namely states that are close, montana, washington state and idaho. the down side is that there would be the destruction of wildlife habitats to support animals like the grizzly and gray wolf. the suddy predicts problems for wine region ns south africa, australia and southern europe, specially near the mediterranean. this report is considered ground breaking because it is reportedly the first time scientists have looked at how global warming could affect wine-growing regions throughout the world. reporting live, bob redell, "today i

employee of the two sisters who run a day care center in livermore. now under arrest. accused of child abuse. among the accusations against nazila and lida sharaf. tying up some of the babies in their care. so tightly, it restricted their breathing. the sisters appeared in court yesterday. a plea hearing is scheduled for monday. tonight, kron 4's philippe djegal talks with a woman who worked at the sharaf's day care center. where she describes her expierence there as >> preschools do not desperate for care. they should be grateful, happy and so happy. >> reporter: gerri hofstetter worked for the sharaf's in 2008. but says she quit six months later, because she couldn't stand how the sisters treated the children. hofstetter then open up learning to leap. this child development center in san leandro. to give parents a more responsible pre-school option. >> luckily i was only very in the beginning. where i could see there were some real problems. and i should not they should not on a preschool. that is why i did a two diligence for i laughed. because i could see what was happening in the

allegations of child abuse tonight against the operators of a preschool in livermore. two sisters were arrested after investigators say they swaddled infants so tightly the children couldn't breathe tightly or move their arms or legs. >> reporter: what is outlined in this complaint is truly shocking. this preschool was shut down in 2010 for restraining children. here we are tonight, and the school was shut down again. the operator is accused of the very same offense. it might have all the markings of a happy, and safe daycare center. >> this wasn't swaddling. they were tieing these kids. >> reporter: the department of social services cited the owner for swaddling, a technique prohibited by state licensing. livermore police say they found dangerous conditions that put babies at risk. >> babies were tied in knots. their arms and legs were tide so tightly, they couldn't move their arms or legs. >> reporter: court documents show blankets were put over the kids faces. >> that's a recipe for disaster. >> reporter: a tip prompted the investigation. the preschool was shut down for a number of
